You might wonder “What is so exciting about building websites, programming unique code for solutions to unique problems? What's so exciting about hours of photoshop and illustrator?” The answer is simply We facilitate dreams. More and more there is a direct correlation between having a solid web presence and being successful in business. The newer generations have moved almost completely online for their source of knowledge and perception of reputation. Often service and buying decisions are made in a fraction of a second based on a companies web presence (professional design, valuable content, ease of navigation), google results, and what other people on the web are saying; and the standards are increasing. Even later generations are understanding the power of the web and are increasingly less patient with quirky websites and less than perfect functionality. Although most people do not design and build their own company's website, and few in our target market of small to mid sized businesses have the capital for an in-house designer, the design still reflects directly on that company's core competencies in the eyes of the customer. That's where we come in.

The two founders of this company (the two writing this article!) bring an immense amount of experience, knowledge and creativity to the table.

Zach and Emma are a skilled and dynamic team always balancing and supporting each other in excellence, together creating end results that one person alone could not achieve. The concept of one plus one equals three is definitely a strong part of our work flow.

Zach, our resident nerd and president, brings 16 years of professional IT experience to the table and yet still comes with a new, vibrant and forward looking view of the world as he is in fact only 27. Although young, Zach has excelled in his professional career. Previously managing two PC Club computer stores (California chain of over 70 stores), one of which became the fastest growing store at the time under his management. In addition to retail, Zach has exceeded expectations in consulting, and lead the industry in health care IT technology working with GE, Phillips, Siemens and many more. When all is said and done, Zach has mastered hundreds of technologies over the years, proven himself throughout the world of IT and has mastered many of the finer traits of sales and marketing, handling the creation and publication of all of his stores marketing and advertising material.

No one can succeed so greatly in business without understanding people, and unfortunately for so many, it is one or the other: A technology wiz who doesn't know how to ease work flow nor how to sell, or a sales or PR guru who couldn't build let alone explain the technology. Often companies hire at least one of each and pray they get along. At Cranium Computing, we fit them neatly into one package. If you think we're done, read on, because any good team needs balance.

Emma brings a context to the company. With an honors degree in Biology and a graduate degree in Science Illustration, she is one smart cookie. Balancing knowledge with creativity, she is filling the role of Creative Director (among other hats she wears). Focusing on the design aspect of clients needs, her analytical mind combined with artistic creativity supports design and layout including website flow and function. In addition to websites, Emma is an Illustrator in both digital and traditional medias, and has produced Paintings and Illustrations for Books and Science Journals as well as many pieces suitable for framing. With a steady hand and an eye for detail, she is the perfect combination to compliment to the technology side of Cranium Computing.

If the core of Cranium wasn't enough, we bring in other highly skilled designers and programmers when necessary to best serve our customers. Knowing that relationships are at the core of our business, and given our extensive history with project management, we provide the glue and the foundation for many professional freelancers who provide niche skills that some of our best projects require. Our mindset can significantly reduce the development cost to you while still providing very high levels of functionality and security. While the open source software runs at the core, your website will be beautifully tailored to you. We design a custom template to give the look, feel and flow that best matches your company's needs and personality, then if necessary we build from scratch or customize modules to add new or different functionality or looks to match your specific needs; all at a rate much lower than building it all from nothing – often for less than one tenth the cost!
